2016-2017 theater season at Collège Sévigné...
As in previous years, students at Collège Sévigné (in secondary and higher education) make visits to the theater. The Cultural Adviser, in collaboration with teaching staff, makes a selection from performance schedules at private, public and national theaters in Paris.
At the Théâtre des Abbesses, Seconde and Première (ages 15 and 16) students saw Goethe's Iphigenia in Tauris. Two classes in Seconde and Première will see Corneille's Polyeucte next January and will meet stage director, Brigitte Jaques-Wajeman.
In January, at the Espace Cardin, Terminale (L) (age 17) students will see Letter to a Man: Diary of Vaslav Nijinsky, directed by Robert Wilson. In March and April, Première (ES) and Terminale (ES) (ages 16 and 17) students will see L'Etat de siège by Albert Camus and then La Chose commune by Emmanuel Bex and David Lescot.
At the Théâtre du Châtelet, Première and Terminale students saw Viktor by Pina Bausch; Seconde, Première and Terminale students got the chance to see the Berliner Ensemble theater company in Goethe's Faust I & II.
At the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale, as part of a project in partnership with the Cité Internationale on the Living Arts, Guidance and Courses in Higher Education, Urbanism and Architecture, one class of Seconde students will see four performances: Tordre by Rachid Ouramdane, Ceux qui errent ne se trompent pas by Maëlle Poésy, l’Homme de Hus by Camille Boitel and Champs d’appel by François Lanel.
At la Comédie-Française, second level teaching certification (Agrégation) students see a performance of Misanthrope by Molière, Salle Richelieu, along with a drama and prosody workshop and an event headed up by director Clément Hervieu-Léger and actor Loïc Corbery.
At the Studio-Théâtre de la Comédie-Française, a class of 6ème pupils (age 11) will see Le Cerf et le chien, an adaptation by Marcel Aymé. In April, a class of Seconde students will attend a performance of Il faut qu’une porte soit ouverte ou fermée by Alfred de Musset.
At the Théâtre de l’Odéon, Seconde and Première students saw Don Juan by Molière. In January, they will also see Georges Feydeau's Hôtel Feydeau and should get the chance to meet with the actors. Next March, Première students will attend a performance of Suddenly, Last Summer by Tennessee Williams. At the Ateliers Berthier, Terminale students studying Italian saw Il cielo non è un fondale, after taking part in a workshop with the two directors Daria Deflorian and Antonio Tagliarini at the Théâtre de l’Odéon. Next January, Première students will attend a performance of A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller.
At the Théâtre Treize, Première and Terminale students saw an adaptation of Cervantès' Don Quixote. A class of 3ème pupils (age 14) will see Neuf by Stéphane Guérin, Intra muros by Alexis Michalik and Les Peintres au charbon by Marc Delva.
Teachers also choose performances during the school year for school outings: two classes of Première (age 16) saw The Browning Version by Terence Rattigan at the Théâtre de Poche Montparnasse, two classes of 3ème and Seconde saw Molière's The Learned Women at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin while last November, 4ème students (age 13) attended a performance of Corneille's Le Cid at the Théâtre du Ranelagh.
