Cinema & Film

Cinema is an important cultural activity at Collège Sévigné, both at our secondary school and in higher education.

Cinema and film is studied and enjoyed in various forms:

Cinema Club with Antoine de Baecque and Alice Leroy

Collège Sévigné continues its cinematographic activities with Antoine de Baecque, historian and film critic, Professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Rue d’Ulm and Alice Leroy, post doctoral student at ENS Lyon.

Eight sessions for academic year 2016-2017 are available to the entire teaching community and general public on Tuesdays at 6:30PM in Colson A.

Furthermore, upon the request of several teachers, curriculum-related viewings are shown in our high school classes by Antoine de Baecque and Alice Leroy. View the program here (in French).

SIGHT CLUB

Collège au cinéma at Collège Sévigné

Collège au cinéma is a nationwide initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Ministry of National Education and local authorities (in this case, the City of Paris authorities).

Collège au cinéma aims to raise awareness among secondary school pupils about cinematographic art. From 6ème to 3ème (ages 11 to 14), the initiative enables pupils to discover three cinematographic works a year at viewings organized especially for them at cinema theaters. The aim is to teach the basics of cinematographic culture through the related work conducted by the teachers.

School and cinema initiative

Pupils have the pleasure in taking part in film screenings offered by "Mon 1er cinéma et Ecole et Cinéma" at the Ursulines studio in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.

It is a joint ministerial initiative between the DRAC Ile de France, Mission Cinéma de la Ville de Paris, the Rectorat de Paris, National Center of Cinematography and Animated Image, the national association Les enfants du Cinéma and l'Association Enfances Enfances au Cinéma. Pupils watch films at a cinema theater and then study them in class following a specific educational approach provided to their teachers.

2015-2016 Télémaque Project

For the third time, Collège Sévigné has been accepted to take part in the 23rd edition of Télémaques.

Télémaques is a cultural program developed nationally and supported by local authorities and academic administrations. It is run by the association Savoir Au Présent in collaboration with TV channels ARTE, France 2, France 3 and the Civil Society of Multimedia Authors SCAM.

The initiative seeks to teach high school students about television. The various program elements and events throughout the year help teach the meaning behind audiovisual media, a director's options and production constraints and conditions. It is the opportunity to learn to fully comprehend both the content and substance of the televised media.

This year, Terminale (ES) students will work on the documentary

Encerclés par l’Etat Islamique [Encircled by the Islamic State]

Directed by Xavier Muntz - Premières Lignes Télévision / ARTE - 2015

Working with the educational team, the Savoir Au Présent team and television channels, students will learn to acquire an inquisitive and critical viewpoint on television.
