Préparer le BFI (Parcours Monde-bilingue)

Entretien avec Jennefer Cole professeur d’anglais responsable de la section bilingue du Collège Sévigné.

The bilingual section at Collège Sévigné offers students the opportunity to develop their academic English with the goal of becoming capable of studying in dual-language programs at the University level, if they so choose. In middle and high school, students will:

  • learn Science in English
  • take English Literature and Language classes that provide them with understanding of American and Anglophone culture
  • develop their research skills in English with a specialized Research Seminar class
  • consider the different perspectives that influence our understanding of History and Geography while mastering the content ( HG course taught in both French and English)

Students who graduate from our bilingual section are well-positioned to pursue their passions in the 21st century, understanding the important role of cross-cultural collaboration and understanding in our contemporary society.

Recognition:

The BFI American section is the fastest growing international section in French education, and Collège Sévigné is one of the largest schools in its network.

By the end of high school, your child will have earned internationally-recognized diplomas through partnerships with Cambridge International ( IGCSE, taken in 2nde ) and The College Board ( BFI, taken at the end of Terminale ). They will also have the option to take the IELTS language certification exam. These diplomas and certificates, combined with the academic rigor demanded by following the international track, will serve to validate your child’s academic level.

Projects and Extracurricular Activities:

As part of the bilingual education at Collège Sévigné, students will be able to participate in:

  • Poetry by Heart, a national poetry recitation competition
  • Room to Read, a fundraising “Reading Drive” that helps support Literacy initiatives around the world (with a specific focus on addressing the Literacy gender gap)
  • Young Author’s Fiction Festival, a national creative writing competition organized by the American Library of Paris
  • School exchanges with:
    • Washington International School in Washington, D.C. (4e)
    • Lycée Français de Chicago (2nde)
  • Field trip to London to see Shakespeare at the Globe (2nde)
  • Field trip to The United States (currently a trip through the American South to Memphis and New Orleans) (1ère)
